Experience the History
see how the Merchant Mariners of the World War II era lived and worked as well as visit two complete museums packed with videos, history, anecdotes and artifacts.
Stand on the Decks
where many men stood and worked, determined to bring food, ammunition, mail, and supplies to the those fighting in the trenches not knowing if they would survive the trip to see home again.
Visit the Bridge
where the ship’s officers navigated vast oceans while in fear of being discovered by Wolfpack submarines and Luftwaffe dive-bombers.
Walk the Passageways
where these maritime heroes lived for months at a time. See their living quarters, their eating areas, and their recreation areas.

Entry Policies

All visitors are subject to a bag check before boarding the Lane Victory.

Prohibited Items

Prohibited items include but are not limited to:
Outside food/beverage, glass containers of any kind, pets, bicycles, skateboard/scooters, weapons of any kind.

Duration of Visit

With so much to see and do, we recommend at least two or three hours onboard to get the most out of your Lane Victory experience!

Smoking

We are a smoke-free vessel.
There are no designated smoking areas onboard.

Location

The SS Lane Victory is located near the middle of Miner Street in the Port of Los Angeles. You can't miss us. We are the only grey ship in the after you cross 22nd Street.

Located within 30 miles of other attractions and hotels in the Los Angeles and Orange County areas.

Parking

There is parking available directly adjacent to the museum. Parking at the SS Lane Victory is free.

Event Calendar

Group Visit & School Tours

The Lane Victory Maritime Center offers an exclusive discount on admission for:

  • School groups
  • Home schools
  • Youth groups
  • Scout groups
  • Summer/Day camp programs
  • ROTC groups
  • College groups
  • Other youth groups with 10 or more students

This rate provides admission to the museum during normal museum hours (10am – 4pm, last admission at 3pm).

Reservations must be made for your group at least one week in advance. 

Groups must be no less than 10 students/youth, no exceptions.

Chaperones are required.
At least one chaperone for every ten students.

Guided Tours

Our Docent staff is 100% composed of Lane Victory volunteers, therefore times and days are limited and non-negotiable.

Once a tour is requested, the Docent assigned to lead the group will select the areas that will be toured based on the size of the group and space availability.

Following the Docent-led tour, guests are free to stay onboard and continue with their self guided tour.

Admission:
  • Group of 9 or less: $30.00 in addition to regular admission cost
  • Group of 10 or more: $60.00 in addition to regular admission cost
Booking:

All Docent tours are 1 hour in duration, and offered at select times and dates.

Cruises

We regret to report that the SS Lane Victory has temporarily suspended its Cruise Schedule.

This is because during our last sea trials in preparation for cruises, a number of steam generating tubes in the port boiler failed.

Being a 70 year old historic and heroic vessel, repair will require the fabrication of new boiler tubes, installation, testing and trials again.

This process is estimated by our contractors to take quite some time and cost us a tremendous amount of money (in the $7M range).

This untimely repair is costly and your continued support in both work effort and monetary contributions is essential to get her steaming once again.

We invite you to visit the SS Lane Victory and tour the ship and museum as she will remain open on Wednesdays and Saturday from 10pm to 4pm, and Sunday (by appointment).
