Our Commitment Restoring, maintaining, and operating the ship to provide a living historical monument dedicated to the recognition contributions and achievements made by Merchant Mariners.
This way, the public can enjoy the Lane Victory as she serves in her role as a living historical monument, memorial space, and museum highlighting the crucial contributions and sacrifices of the U.S. Merchant Marine Service and the U.S. Naval Armed Guard in protecting this country and maintaining vital supply lines during times of war.
The SS Lane Victory is manned by volunteers, and in addition to its historical significance, provides a training site for fire, police, port security, and military personnel, as well as a center of historical education for maritime students, schools, scout groups and the general public.

The Board of Directors for the Lane Victory Maritime Center, formerly United States Merchant Marine Veterans of WW2 (USMMVWWII), hold their business meetings in the Officer’s Mess aboard the Lane Victory beginning at 1000 until approximately 1200 on the Second Saturday of each Month.
This meeting is where ship and corporate business is discussed, and scheduled guests are allowed to address the Board with concerns, issues, and interests. This meeting is open only to Lane Victory Maritime Center Crew and invited guests.
The SS Lane Victory is a living testament to American maritime history, and the Lane Victory Maritime Center is seeking visionary leaders to help chart our next chapter. The Board of Directors has established the Strategic Advisory Council, a prestigious, non-governing body for community stakeholders and subject-matter professionals ready to lend their expertise in marketing, fundraising, business strategy, and education. As a Council member, you will serve in an ambassadorial capacity, elevating our public profile and identifying vital resources to support our mission. This is a unique opportunity to network with fellow civic leaders and make a tangible impact on a National Historic Landmark, all while working under a Board-approved charter with a designated Board liaison.
If you are a qualified professional ready to advocate for history and education, we invite you to express your interest today. Please submit your resume and a brief statement explaining why this mission resonates with you to [email protected] with the subject line “Strategic Advisory Council Inquiry.”
